Position Info

The Head Chef role is responsible for leading all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring delivery of high-quality food, exceptional food standards, and efficient day-to-day service. 

This role oversees menu planning, development and costing, stock control, ordering, team leadership, training and compliance in food safety and café health and safety. Working closely with the Café and Functions Management team, the Head Chef is responsible for maintaining kitchen performance, fostering a positive team culture, and driving continuous improvement across all kitchen operations while setting the standard for professionalism and collaboration. The role also works in close partnership with the Front of House team to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, streamline service delivery, optimise workflows, manage costs, reduce waste, and enhance the overall customer experience. 

Role Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen, including 2+ years in a Head Chef or Sous Chef leadership role
  • Proven experience in menu planning, recipe costing, stock control and food cost management
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen safety requirements 
  • Current Food Safety Certificate
  • Current eligibility to work in New Zealand (Visa sponsorship is not available for this position)
  • Availability to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays
