Set in lush native bush teeming with wildlife, Rātā Cafe is the on-site cafe at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne, a wildlife sanctuary in the heart of Wellington. Our delicious food and drink do more than nourish our visitors - every dish you make gives back to our conservation mission.
We are looking for a Chef De Partie with at least one year’s experience in a similar role to join our busy day-time cafe and assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef prepare food inspired by nature. Ideally, you will have baking and catering experience and an interest in growing your knowledge of vegetarian and vegan food.

You will be tasked with:
· Ensuring food products are prepared to Rātā Cafe standards as set by the Sous Chef and Head Chef.
· Maintaining food safety in the kitchen – i.e. daily temperature checks and cleaning schedule.
· Testing cooked food and assessing quality and presentation.
· Maintaining kitchen stock levels and being cost-conscious by minimising waste.
· Sole charge of kitchen and kitchen hands at times.
· Preparing cabinet food.
· Assisting with food preparation for event catering.
