Café and Functions Assistant
Rātā Café is the on-site cafe at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne, a wildlife sanctuary in the heart of Wellington. Our delicious food and drink do more than nourish our visitors - every dish you make gives back to our conservation mission.
We are seeking a Permanent Part-Time Café and Functions Assistant to join our team for 30-35 hours per week. Weekday and weekend availability is essential.
Café and Functions Assistants manage all parts of the customer experience in the café. This includes:
- Greeting customers as they arrive
- Taking orders and serving food and drinks
- Accurate use of POS system.
- Maintaining a clean and professional café environment.

You will bring:
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar role
- A genuine passion for customer service
- The ability to follow and communicate instructions clearly and a collaborative team approach
- Confidence working under pressure
A barista qualification/barista experience is desirable.
A current LCQ or Duty Manager Certificate is preferred but not essential.
Like all members of staff at Zealandia, the person in this role will be expected to actively uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, maintain and promote exceptional health and safety, and support the maintenance of biosecurity in the sanctuary.
